The buprenorphine (buprenorphine) are partial agonist / antagonist of opioid, which binds to the mu and kappa receptors in the brain.
Its activity in opioid maintenance treatment is attributed to slowly reversible binding to mu receptors, which for a long time may reduce the need of addicted patients for drugs.
